Assistant Librarian
Job Description:
The Assistant Librarian is a ten month, full time position responsible for planning, development, management, and maintenance of information resources and services of the DCC Library. The Assistant Librarian also provides access to and instruction in the use of a broad variety of library resources and information services for DCC student, faculty, staff, and community users. The Assistant Librarian reports to the Library Director and Dean of Instructional Services and is responsible for the overall management of the library in the absence of the Library Director.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution
- Two years experience in a library setting or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred:
- Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution in Library/Information Science or a Baccalaureate Degree in a related field and two years library work experience.
- Work experience in an academic library.
Other Qualifications
- Experience with computer equipment and software and with a variety of telecommunication and office machines
- Excellent writing and oral communications skills
Responsibilities:
- Participate in and adapt to an ever-changing library environment; keep skills and knowledge current on new technology, programs, resources, and services.
- Provide help to library users, including reference, computer assistance, and interlibrary loan.
- Manage the library collection, including cataloging and processing, weeding, repair, inventory/shelf-reading, and monitoring and managing electronic resources including portable laptop lab.
- Update/maintain the library automation system and OCLC records and systems.
- Supervise and train student workers.
- Manage library operations, including circulation, overdue notices and collection; serials management, reserve shelves, filing, ordering and receiving of materials and supplies, running reports and gathering statistical information, operating and troubleshooting problems with library and office equipment.
- Assist in handling library financial matters, including billing for lost materials or unpaid services, collecting overdue fees, monitoring the cash drawer, preparing invoices for payment, and keeping cost accounts for library purchases.
Essential Functions:
- Work evenings on a regular basis and additional hours, as needed, to cover library when the Library Director is absent.
- Occasional travel is required to attend meetings and training.
- Must be able to lift, move and carry books, boxes and equipment.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate skill in organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments.
- Maintain confidentiality of library information as provided for under Montana law and standards for library ethics.
- Be certified, or become certified, by the Montana State Library in interlibrary loan procedures.
Salary: Grade 10, Entry Level - $12.47/hour plus benefits (depending on experience)

Custodian
DEPARTMENT: Facilities and Grounds Maintenance
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Physical Plant
SUMMARY OF WORK: Position provides for safe, clean, and secure buildings on campus. Cleans and sanitizes designated areas. Locks and secures buildings.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS:
Nature of Work: This position performs skilled manual labor duties requiring attention to cleanliness and safety of buildings. Position works mainly indoors; occasionally works outdoors to shovel snow. May work after 4:00 p.m. shift and evenings following campus events. Follows safety procedures in dealing with equipment and chemicals. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
Personal Contacts: Frequent, yet limited, contact with students and staff.
Supervision Received: Daily supervision and assignment of tasks from the Building Engineer. Indirect supervision of work study and summer help throughout the year.
Essential Functions: Position requires ability to: clean, operate floor cleaning equipment, remove garbage, scrub, dust, vacuum, mop, paint, make repairs, move furniture, do lawn maintenance, change light bulbs, raise and lower flag, unload and stock supplies, lock and secure buildings, operate lawn maintenance equipment. Position requires visual acuity to inspect designated areas, record keeping skills and ability to communicate.
AREAS OF JOB ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE:
Routine cleaning of facility includes:
--Cleans, vacuums, and mops assigned floor areas daily to maintain cleanliness, sanitation and appearance.
--Washes inside and outside of windows.
--Cleans bathrooms, showers, and drinking fountains to maintain sanitary facility.
--Removes trash daily in all areas and clean garbage cans as needed.
--Empties and cleans ash trays.
--Cleans housekeeping equipment, tools, and carts, etc.
--Dusts furniture, file cabinets, tables, dressers, etc. daily.
--Performs other cleaning duties as assigned.
Major cleaning of facility includes:
--Washes walls, ceilings ad furniture every few months where needed.
--Strips tile floor of wax, reseals, and re-waxes annually.
--Shampoos carpets annually.
Minor repairs of facility include:
--Replaces light bulbs when needed.
--Adjusts window drapes, wall hangings, etc.
Replenish supplies:
--Replaces paper towels, toilet tissue, facial tissue and soap in all areas on campus.
--Maintains adequate supplies in the janitor’s closets.
Maintains campus buildings:
--Paints and repairs the interior and exterior of buildings. Paints contents of buildings, as needed.
--Assists in the inspection of and services H.C.A.C.’s, furnaces, water heaters, air conditioners, chiller, air compressor, etc. Informs Building Engineer of needed repairs.
--Assists in the maintenance and inspection of building sprinkler systems, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers.
--Assists in the inspection and maintenance of roof and ceiling fans.
Maintenance of grounds and roadways:
--Removes snow to steps and walkways and applies ice melt to ensure safety.
--Maintains a well groomed campus; waters, mows, cuts weeds, weed control, fertilizes, prunes, plants trees, shrubs, and flowers.
--Paints parking and crosswalks lines.
--Replaces and repairs campus signing.
--Operates and repairs underground sprinkler system as needed.
Miscellaneous:
--Completes security check of buildings and locks/unlocks outside entrances.
--Unloads, stocks, and transports freight within the facility.
--Raises and lowers flag daily.
--Keeps accurate records regarding repair and maintenance performed.
--Attends meetings when requested.
--Follows established fire and safety procedures.
--Practices energy conservation.
--Performs other related duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge: This position requires a knowledge of: cleaning procedures, equipment, and chemicals. General knowledge of grounds maintenance, building maintenance and use of tools.
Skills: This position requires skills in cleaning and use of: cleaning equipment, mops, brushes and power equipment. Skills in grounds and buildings maintenance.
Abilities: This position requires the ability to: take pride in work; maintain confidentiality; work later hours following special events; follow established safety procedures; communicate effectively; follow verbal and written instructions; establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
--High School diploma.
--Experience in custodial work.
--Ability to obtain low pressure boiler’s license.
