This program helps the student learn the basics of welding technology and will prepare the individual to enter the field as an entry level fabricator/welder. The program also includes a selection of academic courses providing the student a well-balanced curriculum. Program graduates may enter the workforce immediately or transfer for more advanced training.
Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate safe work habits in welding/metal fabrication
- Identify and use a variety of techniques and materials to achieve the desired weld
- Perform quality welds on mile steel using arc and gas methods
- Layout and cut flat and structural steel
- Show ability in structural welding, MIG/TIG applications, and advanced welding techniques
- Demonstrate welding symbol interpretation
- Attain AS Level I Welding Certification
