The Dawson College Foundation recently donated $53,000 to Dawson Community College to support dual enrollment efforts. This gift will pay tuition costs for high school students earning credit through concurrent enrollment courses with DCC.
“We are so thankful for the Foundation’s generosity,” said DCC President, Dr. Scott R. Mickelsen. “This gift helps DCC provide more opportunities for our region’s high school students.”
Concurrent enrollment is a subset of dual enrollment where high school students have the opportunity to earn college credit by taking courses taught by college-approved high school teachers. Concurrent enrollment courses are equivalent in objectives, outcomes, and rigor to an on-campus course.
This fall, 67 students are earning credits through concurrent enrollment with DCC.
The Foundation also helps support the Buccaneer Excellence Scholarship program for current DCC students and student-applicants.
The Dawson College Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1963 to raise funds to support and promote the welfare of Dawson Community College and its students.
