Dawson Community College invites all Native American artists to showcase their work in an upcoming group exhibition, Native Voices. This exhibition is open to all Native artists – professional artists, students, self-taught artists, and artists specializing in traditional art and craft work – who wish to celebrate and share their culture and heritage.
“We want to give talented Native artists and craftspeople, including our own students, a place to share and showcase their work,” said Jennifer Wheeler, Exhibition Curator and DCC Visual Arts Director. “It’s our hope that the Native Voices exhibition will help promote learning and cultural understanding.”
Native Voices will run March 25 through May 3 in the Jane Carey Memorial Gallery on the DCC campus. The exhibition opening, on the evening of March 25, will feature a reception and presentation by at least one of the artists.
The exhibition’s electronic submission deadline is February 15. Artists must provide a biography; artist statement; digital images for reproduction; and a written description of the work including title, medium, dimensions, and weight (if sculpture). All entries will be accepted, space allowing.
